This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile application Ivan Guaderrama Art APP (the “App”) handles your information. The App is published by Ivan Guaderrama Art Gallery.

This policy covers the mobile application only. Our website and online store are covered by a separate policy at https://www.ivanguaderrama.com/policies/privacy-policy

1. What the App does

The App lets you point your phone’s camera at a physical artwork in the gallery. When the artwork is recognised, the App displays an animation, a 3D model, or a video on top of it.

2. Camera

The App needs camera access to recognise artworks. This is its core function.

To identify which artwork you are pointing at, the App sends the camera image to the Vuforia Cloud Recognition service, operated by PTC Inc., which compares it against a catalogue of registered artworks and returns a match.

  • The image is used only to identify the artwork.
  • We do not store these images, and we do not use them for advertising, profiling or facial recognition.
  • The App does not record or transmit a continuous video feed. Images are sent only while you are actively scanning.

If you deny camera permission, the App cannot recognise artworks, but you can still browse the rest of the App.

3. Newsletter (optional)

The first time you open the App you may be offered the option to subscribe to our newsletter. This is entirely optional. You can skip it, and the App works exactly the same either way.

If you choose to subscribe, we collect:

  • Your name (optional)
  • Your email address (required)

We use this only to send you updates about the App and news about new interactive artworks. We do not sell, rent or trade your email address.

Our mailing list is managed by Acumbamail, our email service provider, who processes this data on our behalf. See https://acumbamail.com/en/privacy-policy/

Your data is sent to our own server, which forwards it to Acumbamail. Your details are never shared with any other third party.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in every email we send, or by contacting us (see section 10).

4. Push notifications (optional)

The App can send you push notifications about new interactive artworks, gallery news and occasional promotions. This is entirely optional. The App asks your permission first, and everything else in the App works normally if you decline.

Push notifications are delivered by OneSignal, our notification provider, working together with Google’s Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), which is the delivery system Android itself uses for all apps.

To make delivery possible, these providers process:

  • A push token — an anonymous identifier that Google assigns to your installation of the App so a message can reach your device. It is not your phone number and it does not identify you personally.
  • Basic device information — device model, operating system version, language, country and time zone. We use this to avoid sending you messages in the middle of the night and to check that notifications display correctly across different devices.
  • Whether a notification was delivered and whether you opened it. We use this only to understand if our messages are useful. It is not linked to your name or email address.

We do not use notifications to track your location, your browsing, or your activity in other apps, and we do not build advertising profiles from them.

How to stop receiving them: turn off notifications for the App at any time in your phone’s Settings → Apps → Ivan Guaderrama Art APP → Notifications. No need to contact us, and it takes effect immediately.

5. Photos and videos you create

The App lets you take photos and record videos of the augmented reality experience.

  • These files are created and stored on your own device.
  • They are never uploaded to our servers and we never have access to them.
  • They leave your device only if you choose to share them using your phone’s share menu (for example to WhatsApp or Instagram). At that point, the receiving app’s own privacy policy applies.

6. Technical data

To deliver artwork content, the App contacts our server at ivanguaderramaapp.com to download the artwork catalogue, 3D models and videos, and to check whether cached content is up to date.

In doing so, the App transmits the name of the artwork being displayed so the correct content can be delivered. As with any internet request, our server receives your device’s IP address, which is used to deliver the content and for security purposes.

Downloaded content is cached on your device so the App works faster and can operate with a poor connection. You can delete this cache at any time using the CLEAN option in the App’s menu.

7. What we do NOT collect

To be explicit, the App does not:

  • Use any advertising network, or share any data with advertisers
  • Build advertising profiles, or sell any data to anyone
  • Use any general-purpose analytics service to track how you use the App
  • Collect your location
  • Access your contacts, microphone, call history or messages
  • Read files or photos already on your device
  • Create user accounts or passwords

The only measurement we carry out is whether a push notification was delivered and opened (section 4), and only if you accepted notifications.

We do not share your data with anyone else. We never sell it.

9. How long we keep your data

  • Camera images: not stored by us. Processed by Vuforia to return a match and discarded.
  • Newsletter data: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
  • Push token: kept while you have the App installed with notifications enabled. It is deleted automatically when you uninstall the App or turn notifications off.
  • Content cached on your device: stays until you clear it, or you uninstall the App.

10. Your rights — access, correction and deletion

You can ask us at any time to:

  • Tell you what data we hold about you
  • Correct it
  • Delete it permanently

Unsubscribing from the newsletter also removes your email from our mailing list. Turning off notifications in your phone’s settings removes your push token.

11. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Security

Data sent between the App and our servers travels over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Credentials for our email and notification providers are stored on our server and are never included in the App.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced through the App or by email if you are subscribed to our newsletter.
